Tutor Terms
Updated 4 November 2026
Who these terms concern
These tutor terms describe the Out of School arrangement with Green Business Tools Ltd (company 17467760), registered office 297 Green Lane, Redbridge, London IG3 9TL. Contact the Admin Team at parents@out-of-school.net. Read these alongside your written onboarding confirmation, approved pathway and any assignment schedule. Application alone does not create approval or guarantee work.
The intended arrangement is independent tutoring, not a salaried job or guaranteed hours. Actual employment status depends on the working relationship and applicable law; these terms do not waive statutory rights.
Approval before pupil work
Both pathways require identity, right-to-work and address verification and onboarding. Platform-support approval does not permit one-to-one lessons. One-to-one tutors need the required role-appropriate DBS and safeguarding checks and reviewed qualifications/experience. SEND teaching needs separate suitability approval. Keep evidence current and promptly report changes affecting approval. Approval can be restricted while a safeguarding concern is assessed.
Work and conduct
Support your allocated pupils, review and adjust assigned homework, monitor progress and follow up appropriately with families. Progress Plus includes two parent progress meetings per month. Approved lesson tutors deliver the agreed sessions and keep accurate attendance, outcome and duration evidence. Do not promise diagnoses, clinical therapy, guaranteed grades, pupils or earnings.
Use approved communication and lesson arrangements, maintain professional boundaries and protect account access. A parent or responsible adult must be at home during a child's online lesson. Do not arrange undisclosed child contact, collect platform fees directly or disclose pupil information for unrelated purposes. Safeguarding concerns go promptly to the Admin Team at parents@out-of-school.net; urgent danger requires emergency help without waiting for an email reply.
Earnings and service launch
The agreed commercial shares are 70% of your allocated pupils' paid subscriptions: £21 of £30 Platform Access and £31.50 of £45 Progress Plus; and 80% of a lesson you deliver: £24 of a £30 standard lesson or £32 of a £40 SEND lesson when that service is approved and available. Card processing fees come from Out of School's share. Teaching another tutor's pupil does not itself transfer subscription allocation.
The agreed payment schedule is Monday–Sunday lesson earnings paid the following Friday, and calendar-month subscription earnings paid between the 5th and 12th of the following month. These commercial arrangements start only on the date confirmed in your onboarding or commercial activation agreement. A published schedule is not confirmation that the payout system has launched. Outstanding payment disputes, refund adjustments and final-settlement arrangements must be addressed in the applicable commercial schedule before activation; no undisclosed deduction or administration fee is created here.
Parents pay through the approved Out of School process. Earnings must be supported by the relevant confirmed payment and lesson records. Statutory refunds and disputes must be reconciled with statements; contact the Admin Team about an error. No student allocation, booking volume or income is guaranteed. Public-sector assignments require their own confirmed terms and rates.
Cancellation and rearrangement
Parents should give at least 48 hours' notice. Under 48 hours, parents cannot use self-service cancellation; only the tutor can approve and arrange another day by agreement with the parent, subject to availability, without a new lesson charge. If a parent does not attend and the lesson remains available as booked, the fee is normally retained, subject to statutory rights and fair-charge requirements. A tutor must accurately distinguish parent absence from tutor absence.
If you cannot teach, notify the parent and Admin Team promptly and offer a suitable agreed replacement without extra charge. Mandatory consumer refunds/remedies remain available where a replacement is not agreed or service is not supplied. Do not obstruct a refund required by law.
Evidence and recordings
After the call ends, supply a screenshot of its duration display through the approved process. Include only what is needed for the lesson and duration; exclude children's faces, messages and unnecessary identifying information. Keep an accurate lesson outcome record as well. A call-duration image alone does not settle an attendance or teaching dispute.
Recording requires prior written parent or guardian permission and Out of School approval, with purpose, secure storage and access explained before recording. Give an age-appropriate explanation to the child. Approved recordings are retained securely by the tutor as evidence, not routinely uploaded, and deleted within 30 days. Do not share them for publicity. Any exceptional complaint, safeguarding or legally required preservation needs an Admin Team decision documenting the lawful reason and review date.
Privacy, materials and ending access
Access only information for pupils you are authorised to support. Use secure processes for necessary private documents; ordinary notes must not contain diagnoses or private records. Report suspected loss or misuse promptly. Follow the Privacy Notice and your approved data-handling instructions. Platform ownership/licensing remains with its rights holders; you may use it only within the approved tutoring arrangement. Your pre-existing materials are not transferred merely by applying.
Either party can contact the other to end the arrangement. Agree a handover for booked lessons, parent support, access removal, necessary record return/deletion and final undisputed earnings. Safeguarding restrictions may require immediate action; they do not automatically forfeit earned undisputed amounts. Any notice period or additional restriction must be stated in the accepted onboarding schedule.
Acceptance and changes
The final applicable version, tutor identity, pathway, commercial start date and any schedule must be recorded during onboarding before the relevant activity starts. Changes must be communicated and agreement obtained where required; they do not silently alter existing purchases. Nothing here excludes liability or rights which cannot lawfully be excluded. English and Welsh law applies subject to mandatory protections.
